Performance Recovery Therapy.

Our Performance Recovery Therapy (PRT) sessions are absolute game changers for fitness athletes, runners, or triathletes.  It's true that you can only train as hard as you recover, and now thanks to PRT you will be able recover hard!  Before PRT, massage therapy was your only option for soft tissue treatment.   With PRT we asked ourselves, what if we took our medical knowledge of functional anatomy, assessed every athlete to find their unique problem areas, and used all of our treatment tools to keep athletes healthy, rather than just waiting until they were injured.

When it comes to staying fit the Recipe is Simple:

Each PRT session will include some combination of the following recovery tools:

  • Hands on Mobility
  • Myofascial Release
  • RockTape
  • Normatec Recovery Boots
  • Marc PRO Recovery Unit
  • HyperIce Raptor

What to expect:

  1. First session- Mobility Assessment and injury history to define your unique needs (10-20 minutes) plus 40 minute mini-recovery session . (60 minutes total)

  2. Subsequent sessions- After your assessment you can schedule PRT as needed, or we can come up with a PRT membership plan based on your training intensity and recovery needs. (45-60 minutes)

Manual Therapy

Think of it like massage combined with stretch, performed in a highly targeted fashion.

Using a medical level knowledge of functional anatomy we are able to deliver highly targeted, efficient manual therapy to improve movement and desensitize sore muscles.

Hands on Mobility Work

In certain cases through our movement and mobility assessment, we may find that you have certain mobility trouble areas that may benefit from periodic hands on mobility work.

In these cases, hands on techniques like PNF stretching or hands on muscle activation may help balance neuromuscular tone and aid in improving mobility.

Recovery Tools

We utilize a few different tools to help aid athletes in their recovery.  Each tool has a unique mechanism to help you recover faster.

Types of Recovery Tools:

•    Marc Pro— The basis for post exercise recovery is the normalization of tissue through the movement of nourishment and waste. Marc Pro is specifically designed to accelerate this process. The Marc Pro muscle conditioning device creates unique, strong, but completely non-fatiguing muscle contractions that set off a cascading series of physiologic events. We call this a Muscle Activated Recovery Cascade, or “MARC®” for short.

There are four main factors that regulate muscle recovery in adequately hydrated, nourished, and rested individuals: (1) the bringing in of nourishment and other supplies; (2) the removal of waste; (3) the production and release of myokines; and (4) the remodeling of the repaired tissue.

Only active recovery can accomplish all of these goals as muscle activation is the fundamental facilitator of the four processes noted above.

    •    Recovery Pump Boots RecoveryPump delivers an aggressive but very natural alternative to passive recovery for athletes. Our system simulates localized "active recovery" (such as walking) in a passive manner because the therapy is conducted at rest.

This therapy increases venous return, rapidly accelerating the body´s re-absorption of the elements causing soreness and fatigue in the muscle.

It effectively removes metabolic waste faster than any traditional mode of recovery or rest alone

    •    Hyperice Raptor The RAPTOR is a state-of-the art massage system designed to be used before and after sports and fitness activities. It is designed to promote muscle relaxation, keep muscles supple and promote well being. Its rapid mechanical percussions penetrate several layers of muscle with up to 3600 percussions per minute.

Myofasical release mechanism administers deep tissue percussive penetration that achieves better results with minimal to no discomfort. Although THE RAPTOR, does not replace the benefits of direct human touch and deep tissue massage, it greatly improves the effectiveness of treatment. THE RAPTOR allows a good practitioner to administer a much more effective treatment in a shorter period of time.

RockTape

Decompresses an area of swelling and inflammation

When RockTape is applied to the skin, it has a microscopic lifting effect underneath the skin and between the many layers. This allows the by-products created by inflammation to be removed more quickly.

It delays fatigue

Research has shown that RockTape on skin can attenuate muscle fatigue. In rehab, this is very important, not only for the parts of your body that are currently hurting, but also for the surrounding areas as they help to pick up the slack for muscles that are currently not working well.

It normalizes muscle tone

When someone is injured, fatigued, sick, or inflamed, the symphony of muscle action that normally takes place with great accuracy often falls out of tune. For instance, research has shown that people who sprain their ankle tend to have altered activity of their hip muscle as a result. RockTape helps bring dormant muscle back to life and help calm down the overactive muscles. It helps your body coordinate movement as if it weren’t hurt, hence allowing it to heal properly.
